Edmund H. Cowan passed away peacefully on December 20, 2022, at the age of 88 at home with his family in Dublin, Ohio.
Born in Washington DC, one of five siblings, Edmund (Ed) was the son of Mildred and Edmund Cowan. Ed lived in Arlington, Virginia, with his beloved wife (Betty), moved to South Plainfield, New Jersey to raise his children, they retired to Clearwater, Florida, then moved to Dublin, Ohio to live closer to their children, where he lived for the remainder of his days.
Ed was a proud United States Army Veteran – Sergeant, member of the South Plainfield Rescue Squad – 10+ years and a Leader with the Boy Scouts of America.
Ed worked for multiple companies during his career then retirement - Ford Motor Company, Buffalo Tank and EGL.
Ed had a profound love for his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Ed’s favorite activities were spending time with his family and traveling with his wife as the children grew. Ed was also a member of the Family Campers and RV Club, traveling to 48 of 50 states.
Ed is predeceased by his parents, Mildred (Nash) and Edmund Cowan, and his sisters Lorraine Nickols and Florence Franklin.
Ed will be missed by his wife of 65 years, Betty (Dymond) Cowan, daughters Robin (Bob) Lawton of Maine; Dana Milligan (Laura Darwin) Ohio; Wendy (Corey) Tewart-Darwin of Ohio; son Edmund Cowan Jr. of Arizona; grandchildren Jessica Milligan (Theresa Whittington), Molly Milligan, Steven Lawton, Corinne Cowan, Blair Cowan, and great-grandchildren Xavier and Atticus Milligan. He will also be missed by his surviving siblings Eugene Cowan, Mildred Martin, and his extended family.
The funeral will be held at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church located at 7121 Murfield Dr. Dublin, Ohio 43017 on January 27, 2023, at 1:00 PM. A Repast at Dana Milligan’s home will be held immediately following the funeral.
Ed was a beautiful soul who warmed the hearts of the many people around him. His strength and joy of giving to others was paramount to him and will be remembered with pride by his family. He openly and outwardly loved deeply and will be sadly missed by family and friends.
