Elaine King

d. May 4, 2022

Elaine Carol King, 77, of Columbus, Ohio went to be with the Lord on May 4, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Elaine had a very strong work ethic. She worked for Harts/Big Bear Plus for over 30 years, followed by Elmer's Products and the Columbus Dispatch. She often worked multiple jobs including pet sitting and as the Administrative Assistant for the Columbus Ski Club.

Family gatherings were a time where all of Elaine's family got to be blessed with her impressive cooking skills. Elaine was known to give new recipes a try and always seemed to make food look and taste better than the original recipes. Elaine took great pride in the accomplishments of her nieces and nephews. Elaine could be found at weddings, graduations, baby showers, birthday parties and any other celebratory events in support of her family.

Elaine was passionate about animals and led a long life caring for her horses, dogs and cats. Elaine was an accomplished rider and was very active in the Ohio Quarter Horse Congress for many years. Elaine most recently was giving all her love to her dog Titan and cats Duchess and Jinx. Elaine was an avid traveler with her favorite destinations being Scotland and Las Vegas. Air, water and open road, Elaine enjoyed them all. When she was not traveling, Elaine enjoyed reading and had an entire room dedicated to some of her favorite books.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Virginia King and her brother Glen King.  She is survived by her brother Richard (Kathy) King and sister Vivian (Steve) Hazell, nieces Rebecca (Pete) Wildman, Chafta (Jon) Taylor, Molly Sanders, Michelle (Dan) Apgar, and nephews Quinn (Heather) McCusker, John King, Richard (Tammi) King and many great nieces and nephews and two great great nephews and a great great niece.

The family would like to extend a sincere thanks to all her neighbors especially Carol Douglas, James Hofe and Freddy Perkins and to Tessa Ross for adopting her beloved pets.

A celebration of life will be held for Elaine on June 4, 2022 at the Park of Roses Shelter House from 12 pm to 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, Elaine's family requests donations be made to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000 Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
