Ellen Marie (Saunders) Woodson

It is with great sorrow that the family of Ellen Marie (Saunders) Woodson, 61, of Hilliard OH., announces her passage to eternal life. Born on March 30th, 1964, to Roderic Arthur Saunders and Vivian June (Walters) Saunders of North Canton OH., Ellen was a dearly beloved mother, sister, and employee of Hilliard City Schools.

Preceded in death by her parents, she is survived by her brothers Deacon Douglas (Tina) Saunders and Pilot Kenneth (Mary) Saunders, her two children Wyatt and Cole Woodson, a nephew, three nieces, and the menagerie of beloved pets owned by these survivors.

After graduating from Hoover High School in 1982, Ellen left Ohio and spent much of her life in North Carolina where she raised her two children on and off the beach and received her bachelor’s degree in information technology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. A lifelong devotee of artistic expression, literature, and cats, she passed these pursuits to her children Wyatt and Cole who continue her advocacy with love.

Later in life, Ellen returned to her home state of Ohio and devoted herself to public service in the Hilliard City School District where she supported the teachers, parents, and children of Hilliard with their technological needs. A trusted friend, a witty comedian, and a free thinker, Ellen was loved by those who knew her, and she will be remembered by family, friends, coworkers, students, and community members from the sands of Topsail Beach to the banks of Lake Erie as an artist, a helper, a loving mother, and a kind woman who appreciated a good book. In her loss, we recall that it is not goodbye but rather until next time. In the words of C.S. Lewis: “for a time it looked as if all the adventures were coming to an end; but that was not to be.”
