Esta Maynard

Esta Helen Maynard, One of Hershey’s greatest chocoholics of Hilliard, Oh passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at the age of 71.  She was surrounded by those who loved her.  Esta graduated from Fairview High School in Fairview, Pa in 1970.  She leaves behind her husband, David, after 52 years of marriage.  Their relationship started after meeting at a girls slumber party.  It was reported that our mother had pushed other girls away from him, sat by his side, and they remained together till the end.  They were married at Asbury United Methodist Church in Erie, Pa. by the reverend Donald Bloomster.  She had been a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Erie, Pa and Church of the Cross in Toledo, Ohio. Esta has 2 children, David (Cranesville, Pa) and Kristine(Toledo, Ohio).  Grandchildren Bethany, Makenna, Benjamin and Grady and great grandchildren Kaylee and Brinley who brought much joy.  Her early years with her children were spent being a home room mom and volunteer at Elk Valley Elementary.  She had worked as a part-time receptionist for Dr. Richard Juang and for Marx Toys in Girard, Pa.  She retired as a custodian from Southwyck mall in Toledo, Ohio.  She loved quilting and sewing and had made many quilts over the years for family and relatives.  She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Pinckey Johnson and her Stepfather, Gerald McCray. 

The family would like to thank the Norwich Township Fire Department for the care provided over the years.  The family would like to also thank the 5th floor orange at Riverside Methodist Hospital with special recognition to nurses Lillian, Rose, Veronica and Kadie and to Dr. Boyette of the palliative care team.  At the family's request, private arrangements are being handled by Tidd Funeral Home Hilliard, Oh and a memorial service will be held at a later time for the convenience of the family.  Donations in her memory  can be made to the Norwich Township Fire Department, 5181 Northwest Parkway, Hilliard, Ohio 43026.
