Esther L. McGath, age 95, formerly of Mt. Sterling, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2010 in Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster. She was born Feb. 24, 1914 in Quincy, IL., the daughter of the late Charles and Clara (Vollrath) Stuckert.
She was a retired Managing Cashier for Jewett’s IGA; member of The United Church in Mt. Sterling, and member of Sterling Chapter #74 O.E.S.
She was preceded in death by husband, George Raymond McGath; son, Robert McGath, sister, Dorothy Adams, and brothers, Loren Stuckert and Robert Stuckert.
She is survived by sons, Raymond Charles (Marcia) McGath of Oregon, OH., Richard Allen (Margaret) McGath of Canal Winchester; 9 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 3 great, great grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Leach of Mt. Sterling, Grace Nicely of Wilmington.
A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 29, 2010 at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Sterling. The family will receive friends one hour prior to time of service.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation was requested. The burial of her cremains will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Pleasant Cemetery.
