Eugene W. Garrison, age 86, formerly of Mt. Sterling, passed away December 2, 2009 in Greene Memorial Hospital in Xenia. He was born Jan. 30, 1923 in Columbus, OH.
He served in the US Marine Corps with duty in the South Pacific from 1942 to 1946; owner of Garrison Heating & Electric; and a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church.
Preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Edith (Wissler) Garrison, and sister, Judith Rudy.
He is survived by his adored wife of 62 years, Rosemary; daughters Peggy Garrison (Ken Truman) of Hamilton, Kathy (Bill) Elasky of Athens County; grandchildren Luke (Morganna) Elasky of Scottsville, New York, Beth Elasky of The Plains, OH., and Becky Newman of Athens, OH.;
Great grandchildren, Cedric and Aryah; many nieces & nephews.
A private family graveside service was held Friday, December 4, 2009 in Pleasant Cemetery, Mt. Sterling, Ohio. The family was served by the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Sterling. A Memorial service for Mr. Garrison will be held Sunday, December 13, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the
First United Methodist Church in Mt. Sterling. Rev. Mike Berne officiating the service.
