Frank W. Comfort, Jr. Born August 6, 1946 in Mt. Pleasant, PA, went home to be with the Lord on November 21, 2014 in Columbus, OH following a brief illness. Frank was survived by wife, Sharon; son, Chris (Jenya); daughter, Sumer; sister, Joanne (Gene) Kaczynski; aunt Anne Karaffa; aunt Yolanda Trafecanty; uncle Lewis Lattanzo; a beloved niece Teresa (Alex) Cantini; and other close family and friends. Frank served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, in which he was wounded and earned a purple heart. It was during his hospital stay in the US following this injury when he met Sharon, who was an integral part of his medical care. They married on June 5, 1971. An electrical engineer by profession, Frank retired from the Phillips Semiconductors in 2007 after 28 years of service. Frank was known for his love of the Lord's church and served Him diligently as an elder at the Fishinger and Kenny Roads Church of Christ since 2001. He is fondly remembered by the children of the church as "the candy man" who met them at the door each Sunday with a huge smile. Frank was loved by those who knew him well for his kindness, compassion, and generosity. He was a well-respected leader and role model in all facets of life. Family will be receiving visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with military honor performed at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, November 24 at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich Street in Hilliard. Memorial Service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 25 at the Church of Christ, 1130 Fishinger Road in Upper Arlington. Family will receive visitors 30 minutes prior to the service. Honorary pall bearers include Chris Comfort, Nate Holy, Dick Riley, Greg Tidwell, Clay Brown, Craig Wilson, Gary Myers, Paul Huston, Alan Whitlow, David Waggoner and all the children of the candy man.
