Frankie Lee Cunningham, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother great, great grandmother and friend to many died May 10, 2017 at Mayfair Village in Columbus, Ohio. She was born in South Webster, Ohio on November 10, 1928, the daughter of Albert and Violet Smith. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her all of her siblings; Muriel Hager, Picolla Ruth, Eloise Goldia Whittington, Wanda Noel, Albert Smith Jr., Caryold Smith and Jim Smith.
Frankie retired from Ohio Bell Telephone where she was one of the Ohio Bell Pioneers. Through a work and volunteer life of serving the public, Frankie met and befriended an enormous and diverse group of people who would become lifetime friends and benefit from that friendship with her loyalty and caring. She was an exceptional cook and her table was almost never limited to her five children and spouse.
Frankie 's family was the center of her universe. Her extraordinary love and devotion for her children was unconditional. She treasured her, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was thrilled to be a part of their lives. She never forgot her roots and was instrumental with her siblings in forming and maintaining an annual family reunion in South Webster. In addition to her own children she had the capacity, energy and desire to know what was going on in each of her many nieces, nephews, cousins and their children’s lives and encourage and assist them in any way possible. “Aunt Frankie”, Grandma, mom leaves behind a lifetime of fond memories, stories and experiences to be shared by her family that will pass from generation to generation just as her love was given to all in her lifetime.
She is survived by her children; Thomas(Sandy), Stephen(Doris), Michael(Barbara), James(Nancy), and Nancy Kefauver. Frankie is also survived by grandchildren; Crystal, Brandi, Paul, Patrick, Cassie, Tracy, Jamie, Dustin, Danielle, Jennifer, Jamie, Aaron, Michael and Sarah. 15 great grandchildren and 7 great, great grandchildren. The family would like to give special thanks to Frankie’s coworker and dear lifetime friend; Mary Hager and her husband Charles, who were indispensable friends and caregivers. Visitation will be held 6-8 pm Monday at TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH 43026; where funeral service will be held 12 pm Tuesday with visitation one hour prior to the time of service. Her nephew, Pastor Merit Smith, officiating. Interment Kingwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the James Cancer Hospital, 660 Ackerman Rd., 6th Floor, Columbus, OH 43218.
