Fred “Mac” Campbell, age 93, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, May 6, 2023. He was born in 1930 in Davenport, IA to Fred and Mary Louise Campbell. The family relocated to Upper Arlington in 1947. In 1958 Mac married Marilyn Ruth Kyle in Columbus, Ohio. Mac served in the United States Naval Reserves from 1955 until 1959.
He graduated from Upper Arlington High School in 1947, earned a Bachelor of Science degree from The Ohio State University in 1951, and his Juris Doctorate in 1954. Mac was admitted to the American Bar Association in 1954. After working as an Assistant City Attorney, he opened his first law firm in 1958.
In 1980 Mac was a founding partner at Campbell, Hornbeck, Chilcoat & Veatch specializing in General Business/Corporate law. He practiced until he retired in 2004 marking 50 years with the American Bar Association.
Mac and Marilyn loved to travel, play tennis and golf. But his greatest gift was being a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Nancy Crusey, Dayton, Ohio and Mary Ellis Slates. Columbus, Ohio.
There will be a private family service held at Union Cemetery, with a Celebration of Life to follow at a later date.
