Fred W Truxall, age 95, passed at home on December 26. Born and raised in Columbus, Fred graduated from North High School and was working his way through Ohio State University when World War II intervened. He served in the army, and upon his discharge in 1946 returned to Columbus and Ohio State, graduating in 1947 with a degree in Electrical Engineering.
Marriage to fellow OSU graduate Carolyn Callaway in 1949 and a move to New Jersey to work for RCA soon followed. But after a few years they returned to Columbus, with Fred accepting a position at a small startup company called Industrial Nucleonics (later Accuray), where he would spend the next 35 years. After retirement, Fred began a second career as an instructor and consultant at Columbus State, where he taught Quality Control at numerous Central Ohio manufacturers.
Fred was a longtime faithful member of First Community Church, and served in several capacities including usher and deacon. He was an avid golfer and longtime member of the OSU Golf Course. He was also a lifelong bowler and played other sports, preferring participation to spectating.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn in 2001, and by his brother Clarence and sisters Verna and Florence. He is survived by his three children, Gayle Truxall, Bruce Truxall and Ellen Annette, 5 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
