Frederick (Freddie) Louis LeBeau, age 90 of Mt. Sterling, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by loving family and friends on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at 7:35 PM. He had been in failing health for several years.
Freddie was born December 2, 1920 in Fayette County, Ohio to the late Rudolph Frederick and Sadie (Acord) LeBeau. He lived his entire life in Fayette County where he farmed and owned and operated the Paint Creek Riding Stables. A 1938 graduate of Madison Mills High School. He was a member of the Madison Mills United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School for a number of years. He was also a member of the Bloomingburg Masonic Lodge #449 F & AM, Bloomingburg Lions Club, Madison Goodwill Grange and coached Little League.
Freddie often commented how much he loved this land and all its creatures. His passion for horses and all of the different people that he met through his riding stable was a large part of his life.
In addition to his parents, Freddie was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Neil and Alta Goldsberry, two sisters and brothers-in-law Elizabeth (Glen) Diehl and Pauline (Harold) Knisley, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Kenneth (Iva) Goldsberry, one infant son and two infant grandsons.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Betsy (Goldsberry) LeBeau who he married January 5, 1941. Also surviving are 4 children; Rudy (Peggy) LeBeau, Roger (Linda) LeBeau, Louann (Jeff) Thompson, all of Washington Court House and JoLynn (Dale) Mori of Summerville, South
Carolina; 11 Grandchildren; Christy, Tony, Jimmy, Ryan, Roger, Amy JoAnn, Mary Jane, Sherry, Melissa, Leslie and LeAnn; 15 Great Grandchildren; nieces, nephews and his loving and faithful caregivers Doug Cottrell, Debbie Meddock, Debbie Trenner and Evelyn Taylor.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 12, 2011 at the Madison Mills United Methodist Church with his nephew, Rev. Fred Diehl officiating, assisted by Rev. Chris Johns.
Friends may call at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, IN Mt. Sterling, Ohio from 4 – 7 PM on Friday, February 11th with a Masonic Service to be held at 7 PM. In keeping with his wishes, Freddie will be cremated.
