Frederick J. McDonnell

Frederick J. McDonnell age 88 passed away peacefully on April 6, 2025. Born in 1936 in Columbus Ohio, he graduated Central High School and served in the United States Navy Reserves for eight years. Fred worked at Hi Grade Ice Cream where he met the love of his life, Dori, whom he was married to for 43yrs until she passed. Fred also worked for White Westinghouse, Discon Warehouse, Ross Labs, Hill Distribution and retired from the City of Columbus impound lot. He was a resident of Hilliard for 64 yrs.

Fred loved bowling, horseshoes, cards and lawn jarts. He was the biggest supporter of his kids and grandkids. He loved playing games and watching sports. He was truly loved by all that knew him.

Preceded in death by his parents Lester and Edith. Brothers: Theodore, William, Ronald (Phyllis), Donald (Joan)and Robert and his beloved Wife Dorothy and his son Mark.

Fred is survived by son Zachary, daughters Marilyn Clifford (Dan) and Marlene McDonnell. Grandkids: Jennifer Clark (Andrew), Joshua Miller (Melissa), Jaime Clifford (Tiff), Jessica DePietro (Benny) and Jordan Clifford (Christen). Six beloved great grandkids: Austin, Noah, Heartlee, Ryder, Maverick and Calliope. Sister in laws: Isabell Mentzer, Wanda Mineard, Alice Limings and Edith Reid (Robert), Carol McDonnell and Sally.

Visitation will be 5:00-7:00p.m. MONDAY at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard OH 43026, (614)-876-1722, where his Funeral Service will be held 11:00a.m. TUESDAY, APRIL 15, 2025. Burial will follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estates, Reynoldsburg Ohio.
