Gene D. Lower, 87, longtime resident of Hilliard, Ohio and nine year resident of Bristol Village in Waverly, Ohio, passed away on February 11, 2013, from a short bout of pneumonia. Gene was born on July 5, 1925 in North Manchester, Indiana to Stewart and Blanche Lower. He served as a Marine in World War II and then earned a Bachelor’s degree in Dairy Technology from Ohio State University in 1950. Gene was cherished by his family, his wife of 64 years, Alice, daughters Mindy (Mark) Mahler of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Becky (Leonard) Hord of Bucyrus, Ohio, and Jenny (Bob)Spencer of Vernon, Vermont, and granddaughters Krista, Kate, Erica and Emily. Gene is survived by his brother Joe (Rose Mary) Lower and his sister Marianna (Bud) Lewis. Gene retired after a long career with Borden Company as plant superintendent in Columbus, Ohio. He was an avid fisherman and Buckeye fan. Together Gene and Alice traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada with their travel trailer, and also enjoyed trips to Hawaii, Europe and the Caribbean.
