Gene “Geno” Rudolph Phillips Gene was born September 25, 1928 and died unexpectedly June 25, 2010 in Columbus, Ohio at Columbus West Park. He had resided in Five Points and the Mt. Sterling area most of his life. Gene was the son of Jay and Dorothy Reed Phillips.
He was a conscientious and dedicated worker his entire life. Gene had his own trucking business, worked at several local factories and completed his working career at Beulah Park, where he retired at age 72. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved fishing, and caring for animals.
He was preceded in death by his son, William “Billy” Richard Phillips, parents Jay and Dorothy Phillips, sisters Virginia Lee Warthman and Marjorie Ann Phillips, as well as his twin brother Eugene Phillips.
Gene is survived by three sisters, JoAnn Davidson, Springfield, Ohio, Martha Cahall, Westerville, Ohio and Dorothy May Amling, London, Ohio and two brothers, Thomas A Phillips, London, Ohio and Jay F. Phillips of Mt. Sterling, Ohio. As well as two dedicated and caring friends, Shelley and Larry Thompson of Grove City, Ohio.
A Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Sterling. Rev. Denver Peters officiating with the interment following in Muhlenberg Township Cemetery, Darbyville, Ohio. A visitation will be held beginning 12:00 Noon until time of service.
