George Baer

George H. Baer, age 85, of Dublin, passed away to join our Lord on Saturday, July 13, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Born Jan. 11, 1928 in Chillicothe, OH to the late George and Nellie Baer. Preceded in death by brothers Jess and Lyman, sisters Grace and Ina. Survived by his loving and devoted wife of 57 terrific years Marie, caring daughters Candy (Ralph) Abbruzzese, Cindy (Doug) Schaaf and their children Mason and Kaylee, Lorraine Gray and her children Sammie, Tammie and Ann, brother Chester, extended family and many friends. George honorably served his country for 7 years in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War. Retired in 1986 from Columbia Gas after 33 years of service. He was a devoted family man who enjoyed his time with them, especially on summer vacations. He enjoyed spending winters in Texas with Marie and fishing trips to Canada. He was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan, enjoyed playing dominos and was a great gardener. No one could grow tomatoes and corn like George. The family greatly appreciates the wonderful care he received from all the doctors, nurses and chaplains while George was at Dublin Methodist Hospital. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 5-7 pm at the Tidd Funeral Home 5265 Norwich St. Hilliard, OH 43026. A private family graveside will be held at Northlawn Memory Gardens.
