George Melvin Headlee, 88, former resident of Dublin, OH, passed away Sunday, January 12 at home. Born October 30, 1925. Veteran of the U.S. Army, 282nd Engineer Combat Division, WWII. Recipient of Purple Heart and 3 Bronze Stars. Wounded at the Battle of the Bulge. Retired from Shell Oil, 37 years. Owner Headlee Gardens. Avid golfer, hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman, and also enjoyed gardening, family, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Cleveland Indians. Preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Catherin (nee Willing); infant son Michael; parents Earl and Bertha Headlee; brothers John, David, Bill, and Roger Headlee; sister-in-law Wilma Headlee; brother-in-law Jack Extenkamper. Survived by his children Steve (Lynn), Terry (Loria), and Bob (Tammie); grandchildren Alyssa, Michael, Spencer and Olivia; brothers Harold, Lee (Barbara), Richard (Arlene), Charles (Margie), Wayne (Shelby), and Jim (Claudette) Headlee; sisters Irma Jean Extenkamper, Eula (Jack) Price, and Sharon (John) Shoemaker; sisters-in-law Betty, Norma, and Diane Headlee, brother-in-law Robert (Phyllis) Willing, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral service 11AM Friday, January 17 at TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, OH 43026 , Rev. Steve Norden officiating. Burial following services Dublin Cemetery.
