Georgia Lee “Jo” Hamby, 84, went rejoicing to be with her Lord on July 4, 2008. Born on June 15, 1924, in Greenup, Kentucky to parents Elva and Eva Archey. She retired as a supervisor for Western Electric in Columbus. She never met a dessert that she didn’t like and would look at the sweets before anything else on the menu. During her retirement she enjoyed working with her crafts and being with her immediate family and friends and her church family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Glady Lee Hamby who passed away May 26, 2008, parents Elva and Eva Archey, brother Clyde Roy, sisters Edythe Morris, Wynola Wester and Helen Archey, and grandson Mark Shaffer. She is survived by her son Roger; and daughters Joy Lynn (Dave) Shaffer, Carolyn (Tom) Rose, and Barbara Nishimura. She is also survived by three sisters: Doris (Carl) Prater, Betty Boldman and Donna Kay (Charles) Warden and three brothers Charles Archey, August (Ruby) Archey and Eddie Archey. She leaves behind six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her dear friends Rosemary Maynard and Jean Greer. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 12, 2008 at THE TIDD FUNERAL HOME where family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Greg Mason from The Hayden Run Baptist Church will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made (at the funeral home) to the Youth Fund at Hayden Run Baptist Church. A private inurnment will be held at Fairview Cemetery.
