Gerald James (Jim) Johnson of Hilliard, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 1, 2012. Jim was born to Harrison and Doris Irene Johnson on September 20, 1935. He has been proceeded in death by parents and sisters Dorothy McDonald and Ruth Pettit, brother Donald Johnson. Survived by wife of 58 years Welma, sons Michael (Margy), James “J.D” (Teressa), Kevin (Lisa) and daughter Diana Lyon (Greg), 10 grandchildren Todd (Crystal), Trisha, Tyler (Megan), Tracy, Seth, Emily, Taylor, Harrison, Connor “C.J”, Riley and 5 great-grandchildren Maggie, Addi, Luke, Elijah, and Gideon. Survived also by brother Larry Johnson (Judy) and Sister Sandra Elam (Charles) and many nieces and nephews. Jim was a dedicated employee of Norwich Township where he served for over 40 years before his retirement. Jim was a member of Hayden Baptist Church where he was also dedicated to serving the Lord and his fellow believers. He volunteered in the youth ministry by working on the buses to keep them running so kids could be picked up for church, he gave up many weeks to help at youth camp over the years and chaperoned many outings (bike trips, canoeing, etc.). He was also a great father. He made sure that his children had the things they needed, but also, spent quality time with them on the weekends and after retirement helping them in whatever way he could. He was a loving and devoted husband and a good friend to all. Jim was a great example of a true man; God, Family, Others them himself. He will be missed by all that had the opportunity to know him. Family will receive friends Friday from 4-8 pm at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH; where funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday officiated by Rev. Steve Hicks & Rev. Tyler Lyon. Interment Wesley Chapel Cemetery. “Whether I go or if I stay, I’m a winner either way.”
