Gerald Jerry Knight

Gerald “Jerry” Donald Knight, age 77, of Hilliard, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 12, 2016, after a long battle with heart disease. Jerry was raised in Lincoln Park, MI by his parents, James C. and Helen Knight. He graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1970. Prior to earning his degree, he served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 6 years as a navigator working on C-124 cargo planes. He always loved flying and pursued his pilot’s license after the military. In 1970, he took a job with Turner Construction Company, where he worked for 33 years on various projects around Columbus including the Nationwide One Building, Children’s Hospital, and New Albany High School, to name a few. His hobbies included playing and watching golf and spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Dreami; children, Samantha (Rob Hitt) Knight and James Knight; grandson, Henry Hitt; brother, James Knight (Emma Lou), numerous nieces and nephews, other close family members, and many friends. Friends may call Monday, May 16, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St. in Hilliard, OH. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Scioto Ridge United Methodist Church, 4343 Dublin Rd. in Hilliard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in Jerry’s memory.
