Gilbert Emory Millington, age 94, of Dublin passed away Thursday, August 7, 2008 at Mayfair Village. Born May 9, 1914 to the late Christine Barbier and Gilbert Millington. He started his army career in 1942. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War, where he received numerous commendations, including the Bronze Star and the Legion of Merit. He served in the Army until 1968, when he retired as a full Colonel. Served in civil service in Fort Lee, VA and New Cumberland Army Depot in PA. He obtained a BA from the University of Maryland, then went on to George Washington University where he completed his MBA. He retired to Pine Knoll Shores, NC where he served as an EMT for 20 years with the Pine Knoll Shores Rescue Squad. He and his wife moved to Dublin, OH in 1998. He is preceded in death by brother, William C. Millington. Survived by loving wife, Rita Marie “Denboske” Millington; children, Kathy (Don) Faust, Gilbert E. Millington Jr., and Greg (Susan) Millington; grandchildren, Megan, Michael, Curt, Jason and Brian; four great-grandchildren; along with numerous other loving relatives and friends. He was regarded as a hero and will be deeply missed by all who loved him. Friends may call Saturday, August 9th from 10-11 AM at St. Brendan Catholic Church 4475 Dublin Rd. Hilliard, where a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM. He is to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.
