Gilbert Styer

Gilbert Lloyd Styer, age 85, of Hilliard, died Sunday, October 16. 2011. He was born on September 21, 1926. He was raised on a farm by John and Minnie Styer. He graduated in 1944 from Byhalia High School in Union County. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was stationed in San Diego, CA. He attended The Ohio State University and was a lifetime member of the Alumni Association. He was employed by C. V. Perry & Co. for 47 years as an accountant. Gil enjoyed the outdoors, sports, reading and spending time with his family and friends. He was a long time member of the Hilliard Presbyterian Church. He lived 50 years in Hilliard.
He was married to Helen M. Styer Jones for 23 years. He is survived by his children, William R.(Donna) Curott of Gilbert, Arizona ; Janet M. Golder of Columbus, Ohio; Mary Lou (Gary) Keller of Terrell, Texas; and Sue Ellen (Thomas) Wilkins of Chandler, Arizona; grandchildren Libby (Juan Carlos) Hernandez, Cheryl (Jeff) Moore, David Golder, Brian Curott, Katie Keller, Michael Keller, Christine Wilkins, and Stephanie Wilkins. Great grandchildren include Joel Hernandez, Raizja Moore and Kelton Moore. Also survived by John LeRoy (Wilda)Styer, Kathryn (Robert)Wolfinger, Robert (Bonnie)Styer; and many other relatives and friends.
Calling hours are Saturday, October 22, 2011, from 6:00-8:00pm at the Hilliard Presbyterian Church, 3600 Leap Road, in Hilliard, where a memorial service will be held Sunday at 2:30pm, with the Rev. Jim Browne officiating.
