Glady Lee Hamby

Glady Lee Hamby, age 82, went rejoicing to be with his Lord on May 26, 2008. Born on July 12, 1925 in Portsmouth, Ohio to parents William Green and Mary Edna Hamby. He proudly served in the U S Navy during WWII. Lee was a volunteer on the West Jefferson Fire Department and also for the Hilliard Police Department and Hilliard Fire Department. He was employed for a number of years by the City of Hilliard in the Water and Waste Division. He never met a stranger and he loved pulling practical jokes. He enjoyed woodworking, making animal sounds and bird calls, and all that knew him loved to watch his beautiful smile when someone was tricked by the sounds. He was preceded in death by his father and mother Green and Edna Hamby; sisters Maxine Hamby and Geraldine Spradlin; brothers, Paul, Glen, Harry, Allison, Tracy, and Doug; and grandson Mark Shaffer. He is survived by loving wife of 62 years, Georgia “Jo” Hamby; son Roger Lee; and daughters, Carolyn Sue (Tom) Rose, Barbara Jean Nishimura, and Joy Lynn (Dave) Shaffer. He is also survived by two sisters, Margaret Pack and Zella (Ralph) Adams; two brothers, George and Scottie Hamby. He leaves behind six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday May 31, 2008 at THE TIDD FUNERAL HOME 5265 Norwich St. Hilliard where family will receive friends from 2pm until time of service at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made payable to the Youth Fund at Hayden Baptist Church 6729 Hayden Run Rd. Amlin, OH 43002.
