Greyson Neil Estep, age 18, passed away suddenly on February 9, 2023. He was a Senior at Hillard Darby High School, where he was an Honors Student. Greyson was passionate about music, especially the Columbus hardcore scene. Bands such as Body Farm, En Love, CrimeLight, and Darkroom were among his favorites. At live shows, he lived for moshing “in the pit.” He was incredibly knowledgeable about music and vinyl records, and was also a talented musician himself, playing the drums, guitar, and viola. Greyson played viola since 6th grade and was accepted into well-renowned youth orchestras: he played in the Columbus Youth Orchestra for years, where he met friends from all over the state. He was an avid reader, and particularly enjoyed narrative journalism and comics like Bronze and Silverage. He loved to shop for records and comics, as well as for vintage clothing and unique thrift store finds. He had such an eclectic sense of style! Greyson was a leader in all aspects of his life. He was a hard working and respected employee at Kimball Midwest. He was an excellent cook: his famous homemade mac & cheese was a favorite among family and friends. Grey was very active in supporting the rights of women, LGBTQIA+ and other marginalized communities.
Preceded in death by grandparents Paul and Opal Estep, Greyson is survived by his parents John Estep and Suzanne Estep, his brother Blake Estep, his grandparents Ray Gilkerson and Nancy Gibson, aunts Julann Gibson, Teresa Seawright, and Joyce Johnson, his uncle Steve Gibson and family, Greyson’s cousin, Quil Seawright – they were two of a kind, and numerous other family members. Also survived by Greyson is his endearing girlfriend, Abby Killilia, and his No Shot band “brothers”, Thomas Davis, Kyle Creager, Sam Kime, and Donovan Young, as well as many other friends, teachers, and community members.
A Celebration of Life will take place Sunday, March 5 between the hours of 2:00pm-4:30pm at the Franklin County Fairgrounds “Ganyard Building”, 5031 Northwest Pkwy, Hilliard, OH 43026. Casual attire please.
