Gurbachan Chawla

Gurbachan (G.B.) S. Chawla passed away on August 14, 2024 and was survived by his wife of 56 years Sandra (Sandy) and sons Stephen (Hillary) and Mark (Sarah) and his grandchildren Alex, Marley, Ryan and Nathan.

G.B. was born in Punjab, India and then moved to New Delhi when he was a young boy. He studied medicine there at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). He completed pediatrics residency programs in India, New York, Columbus (Ohio) and Ottawa. G.B. also completed a fellowship in hematology and oncology at Columbus Children's Hospital. He was a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada and appointed Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Queens University, Kingston, Ontario. While working in Belmont County (Ohio), he had the honor of serving as President of the Belmont County Medical Society.

G.B. and Sandy moved to Hilliard, Ohio in 2004 and he enjoyed getting to know new people, golfing, reading and spending time at Upper Arlington, Dublin and Hilliard senior centers. Nothing was as important as his family. He loved the years of raising his sons and helping to take care of his grandchildren when they were small and enjoying the simple times together. It is his good heart, kindness and happy times around family for which he will be remembered.
