Harley L. Rayburn, GySgt, USMC, Retired, age 66, of Columbus, OH, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 14, 2018 from lung cancer. Born in Washington Court House, OH he attended Washington Senior High School. He entered the United States Marine Corps in February, 1970 and proudly served until his retirement in February 1990. After his retirement from the Corps, he worked for the State of Ohio, ODR&C where he served as a corrections officer at London, Ohio Correctional Institution. He retired in 2017. Harley was an active member of VFW Post #4931, Hilliard, was a member of the American Legion, Don Gentile Post #532, the Jerry Wright Post, National Association of Uniformed Servicemen and the Marine Corps League. He was preceded in death by his parents Wilbur and Jean Rayburn, his mother-in-law and father-in-law Marjorie and Willard Deitrick, sister Hazel Rayburn, brother-in-law Roy Kilbarger and nephew Robbie Teets. He is survived by his wife Carol D. Rayburn, children Timothy (Jessica) Rayburn of Grove City, Carl (Brandie) Rayburn of Hilliard, Robert (Tara) Rayburn of Atlanta, GA, Katherine Rayburn of Newark, OH, Jennifer (Brian) Borland of Colorado, John (Erin) Sines of Columbus and Daniel (Gena) Merritt of Michigan, 17 grandchildren, siblings: Elizabeth Poling of Marysville, OH, Thelma (Gene) Hyer of Florida, Herman (Karen) Rayburn of Washington Court House, Lowell Rayburn of Albuquerque, NM, June Kilbarger of Washington Court House and Gene (Jeanne) Rayburn of Indiana; sister-in-law Janet Deitrick of Grove City, many nieces and nephews, good friends Jerry & Karen Fadley of Columbus, Jim & Karen Lutz of Grandview and Perry & Patti Cossey of Mechanicsburg, OH.
