Helen Hall

Helen Marie Hall passed away peacefully Monday, September 12, after two years of hospice care.
Helen was born May 9, 1926, in Hilliards, Ohio, to parents Alfred Shrum and Bessie Orahood. Helen graduated from Hilliards High School in 1944, where she played on the girls’ intramural basketball team.
Helen married Richard Dallas Hall in 1945, and they had four children: Carolyn (James Earl)Jones, Robert (Jan) Hall and twins Jill (Michael) Keenan and Jann (Jim) Cutcher.
Helen worked for the Health Department before retiring from The Ohio State University in 1986.
Helen and Richard were pioneers of Southern Baptist church work. She faithfully attended church services each Sunday and had perfect attendance for 55 years. She was a charter member of First Baptist of Hilliard and Countryview Baptist, and former member of Broadman Baptist. Over the years, Helen taught Sunday School, served on church committees, and was recording secretary, treasurer and missions promoter. She also provided childcare at the Mom’s Day Out program for many years at Dublin Baptist Church.
Helen was a member of the Northwest Historical Society, Daughters of the American Revolution – Daniel Cooper Chapter; and charter member of the Cameo Society of the DAR.
Helen was a lifelong resident of Hilliard. She was happiest with her family; she always made holidays and Sunday dinners special. Helen was also known for her blue-ribbon winning fudge at the Franklin County Fair.
Helen is preceded in death by her husband Richard; sister Frances Lahrmer; and brothers William, Frederick and Edgar Shrum. She is survived by her children as well as eight grandchildren: Catherine (Michael) Reynolds; Carrie Jones; Richard Jones; Lindsay Hall; Kelsey Hall (Ali Aman); Ryan Keenan; Kelley (Jeffrey Michael) Ross and Katelin Keenan; and three great-grandchildren Lauren Reynolds, J. Craig Reynolds and William Ross.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Wed., Sept. 14, at Tidd Funeral Home, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH 43026. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thurs., Sept. 15, at Dublin Baptist Church, 7195 Coffman Rd, Dublin, OH 43017. Interment to follow at Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
