Helen Martin

MARTIN Helen Louise Martin, age 85, passed on November 24th following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in 1921 in Zanesville, Ohio, she lived most of her life in the Columbus/Hilliard area. For the past nine years she resided in Gambrills, Maryland with her daughter. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Helen was preceded by her husband Arnold “Martin”, sister Juanita “Jane” Withem, and sons Melvin “Bud”, Fred, and Gene “Skip”. She is survived by her daughter Judy Aufderheide, son-in-law Ed Aufderheide, honorary daughter-in-law Linda Strong, 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, a large extended family, and her devoted English Springer companion “Putter”. Helen spread joy wherever she went. She is a past-member of the Hilliard Happiness Entertainers, an avid reader, and loved to ride on her son-in-law’s Harley-Davidson motorcycle. She was very active with the O’Malley Senior Center, Odenton, MD where she had many friends. Friends and relatives may pay a final visit from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Dec 1 or from 10-11:00 am on Saturday, Dec 2 at The Tidd Funeral Home, 5265 Norwich St. Hilliard, OH 43026. A memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday to be followed by the burial at Sunset Cemetery on West Broad Street. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
