Helen M Osborne

Helen M. Osborne, age 94, into the loving arms of her God, her spirit ascended on Thursday, February 5, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Gale Osborne, daughter Mary Sue Burrows and 4 sisters. She is survived by daughters, Louise Riddle, Kathryn Allan and Becky Osborne, son Gale Osborne, a large extended family of 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and 2 older sisters. Her husband, Gale owned and trained thoroughbred racehorses, becoming one of the leading trainers in the business. Helen traveled and worked right along beside him all of their married life. In the early days traveling the United States, Canada and Mexico to race meetings. Later settling on a farm in Lancaster, OH but continuing to travel the racing circuit from New York to Florida. She had many wonderful experiences and loved telling stories about the easy days. She loved antiques. Some of her happiest hours were spent at garage sales and visiting antique shops. She loved growing flowers, birds and all animals. She even liked pulling weeds! Her cat has a special place in her heart. A survivor of the great depression, she never wasted anything and tried hard to pass these values on to her children and great grandchildren (with somewhat limited success). She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and the oldest member of the Hayden Run Ward. She had an unshakeable belief in God and the Hereafter. Now she has died. She didn’t want a “Big Fuss” made, didn’t even want a funeral, but we who loved her most need to say goodbye. The family will gather together for visiting an hour before the memorial service to be held at the L.D.S. Chapel at 3880 Gateway Blvd. (off of Wilson Rd. 43228) at 11am on Monday, February 9, 2009. She always said “Send me flowers while I can smell them,” so in lieu of flowers please make a contribution in her memory to the charity of your choice. Being practical she would like that.
