Howard Coventry

Howard Timothy Coventry, Age 58, of Hilliard, Ohio, passed away on August 8, 2023.

Tim was born on July 31, 1965 to Howard and Shirley Coventry in Columbus, Ohio. When graduating from Hilliard High School in 1983, Tim received the outstanding Senior Award / Metal Shop. Tim went on to receive the (BX) Builders Exchange Craftsmanship of the year award in 1990.

During his 40 year career as an Iron Worker, Tim’s trade skills can be seen on buildings all over Ohio and surrounding states. When you see the LeVeque Tower, Ohio State University, medical facilities for Ohio Health, even the basket handles on the Longaberger Basket building, you can think of Tim. You can’t drive around town without seeing a building he didn’t work on. When you walk into the Ohio Brewing Company or Otie’s in Hilliard, you can feel Tim’s passion and love for his trade.

Tim was preceded in death by his Father, Howard Coventry and Sister-in-law, Stacy Coventry.

Tim was survived by his son, Timmy (Danielle) Coventry, Mother, Shirley Coventry, Siblings, Danny Coventry, Sean Coventry and Hyda (David) Slone; nieces and nephews, including Kaitlin Coventry, Eddie (Brittany) Lord and children, Eric (Rachel) Slone and children, Charlie Poston, along with countless friends.

Tim can be described as indestructible, outgoing, hard headed but most of all a mentor and friend to many. You may have known Tim from the Columbus Motor Speedway or competing in local demolition derbies. He might have worked on your car or home project. Regardless of where he was, you could bet on Tim having a Mountain Dew in his hand, his dog, Chase, by his side and a Marlboro Red hanging from the corner of his mouth. One thing’s for sure, you could call Tim day or night and he would be there without hesitation.

In Tim’s own words, “If you show up to my funeral in a suit and tie I will haunt you for the rest of your life.” Please dress casually to avoid this promise made by Tim.

Showing will be Wednesday, August 16 from 6pm to 8pm, at Tidd’s Family Funeral Home, 5265 Norwich St, Hilliard, Ohio. Funeral service will be graveside Thursday August 17 at 11am, at Wesley Chapel Cemetery, 3225 Dublin Rd. Hilliard, Ohio.
