Howard "Buzz" Hamilton (96) of Upper Arlington, Ohio went to be with our Lord on July 4, 2024. He was born March 31, 1928 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Herbert and Marie Hamilton. Buzz grew up on a farm and graduated from Hillards High School in 1946, where he met Paula, his wife of 73 years. He was a very talented football, basketball and baseball player. He was drafted out of high school by the Cincinnati Reds Farm Team. He also played semi-pro basketball. Buzz attended The Ohio State University and then was drafted in 1950, serving in the anti-aircraft artillery unit during the Korean Conflict. He went to work for Columbus and Southern Electric, retiring from AEP Electric after 42 years. Buzz was a 70-year member of the Masonic Lodge of Ohio and a member of the William R. Schnug American Legion Post 614.
Buzz loved to play golf and had a love for all sports. He was a loyal OSU Buckeye and Cincinnati Reds fan. He was an expert handyman and his lawn was always in immaculate condition. Most importantly, Buzz loved his family. He was a devoted husband to Paula, loving father to his 2 daughters and sons-in-law and he adored his 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his dear wife Paula; Daughter, Judy Davis of Columbus, Ohio; Daughter, Jill (Todd) Michael of Urbana, Ohio; Son-in-law, Joe (Carol) Davis of Dublin, Ohio; Grandchildren, Chelsea (Tom) Moseley of Kerrville, Texas; Kyle Michael (Kate Bennett) of Urbana, Ohio; Chase Davis of Valencia, Pennsylvania; Kathy (Drew) Sponheim of Urbana, Ohio; Colby (Joe) Lammers of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; Great Grandchildren, Davis Moseley, Sadie Sponheim, Quinn Lammers, Dax Moseley, Sydney Sponheim, Conrad Lammers, and Anders Sponheim. Also adopted with love, Scott and Shelle Bean; Alexa (Andrew) Martin (Jack and Grant); Andy (Sara) Bean; Numerous nieces and nephews and Special neighbors, Dick and Sharon Sorensen, Josh and Christina Murphy and Paul and Lesa Trapasso. Buzz was predeceased by his parents, sisters, Mary (Rodney) German, Dorothy (Ben) Lindsay and Edith (Porter) Forest; and brother Herbert Jr. (Mildred) Hamilton.
A private family graveside service, officiated by Pastor Christopher Dinnell of Urbana United Methodist Church, will be held at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Hilliard, Ohio, with a family dinner to follow.
