Ida "Linda" (Piersimoni) Gorgoglione, 95, of Galloway, Ohio passed away peacefully at home Tuesday February 18, 2025 with her daughter, Adeline, by her bedside. A second generation Italian immigrant, Ida was born March 27,1929 in the Bronx, New York to the late Attenore Piersimoni and Adelina (DeChellis) Piersimoni. She lived in the Bronx until 2005 when she moved to Ohio to live with her daughter and grandchildren.
Ida graduated high school in the Bronx and worked as a secretary after graduation She also worked at H&R Block for a time doing taxes. She met her husband Dominick of 54 years and they married in 1948. Ida was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Simon and Jude Catholic Church in West Jefferson, Ohio. She enjoyed having family over for Italian dinner every Sunday. Ida had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing. She loved music especially Frank Sinatra, Andrea Bocelli, Tony Bennett and Luciano Pavarotti. Ida also enjoyed sewing, embroidery, crochet. An avid reader, she was very interested in politics and finances.
Ida will be remember for calling everyone for their birthdays and holidays. She treasured her family and the moments spent with them.
Ida is preceded in death by her parents Attenore and Adelina Piersimoni, her brothers Mario and Savino Piersimoni, her sister Marguerite Oussaty, her daughter Juliet Gilligan and son-in-law Michael Gilligan and her son-in-law Peter M. Cursio.
She is survived by her daughter, Adeline (Addie) Cursio of Galloway, Ohio, grandchildren Peter Dominick Cursio (Adrienne) and Sarah Ann Cursio (Bryan) of Grove City, Ohio, numerous nieces and nephews and special neighbors and friends.
Ida will be buried with her late husband Dominick at Calverton Veteran's Cemetery in Long Island, New York. Ida wishes no calling hours.
A Catholic Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday February 26 at 11 AM at St. Simon and Jude Church, 9350 High Free Pike, West Jefferson, Ohio 43162. A reception at Adeline's home will follow.
Ida was a 10 year cancer survivor. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The James Cancer Hospital and Hospice of Central Ohio for their exceptional care and support of Ida and her family.
