Irene Mary Kokorchen

Irene Mary Batory Kokorchen, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, age 100 of Columbus, OH and Harrisonburg, VA, passed away Tuesday morning, May 14, 2019, at Sunrise Assisted Living of Dublin, Ohio. She was born on October 2, 1918, in Lorain, Ohio, daughter of the late Mary and George Batory. Irene was an active member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and served on the Council of Women, Catholic Daughters, made baptismal gowns and was a member of the parish decorating committee. She was also active with the Hilliard Senior Center and Happiness Club. Mrs. Kokorchen resided in Harrisonburg from 1972 until 2011 and was an active community member. She lived with her daughter, the late Linda Dudash and son-in-law Joseph P. Dudash during her time in Harrisonburg and became an integral part of the community. Mrs. Kokorchen was a gifted and talented artist. She enjoyed cross-stitching and crochet, even winning many awards at local art and craft festivals. Mrs. Kokorchen moved to Columbus, Ohio in 2011, to live with her son John J. Kokorchen and her devoted granddaughter Jennifer Kokorchen Poulson. Surviving are her son, John J. Kokorchen, of Columbus, Ohio; her son-in-law Joseph P. Dudash; her granddaughter Jennifer K. Poulson of Hilliard, Ohio, her husband Chris Poulson and their two children Jill Ann and Mitchell Poulson; her granddaughter, Estee Dudash LaClare of Northern Virginia and her sons’ Edward and Matthew LaClare; her grandson Joseph J. Dudash of Harrisonburg, VA, and his daughter Kelsey Dudash. Mrs. Kokorchen will be greatly missed by all of her family, friends and the community. Her selflessness and unconditional love will be the hallmark of her life. We will always cherish our memories of this great and loving lady.
