Jack Short

Jack L. Short, a U.S. Navy Veteran, 79, passed away on January 15, 2023, at home with family. Jack is survived by his wife of 58 years, Pat Short. Children: John Short (Shefali Patel), Danielle Short (Andrew McArdle) and Brother: Fred Short (Diana) Grandchildren: Alexander Short, Ronan McArdle and Ethan Bhula. Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and many friends.

Jack was born in Byesville, Ohio and graduated from Byesville High School. After graduation,
Jack had 3 years of active service in the Navy as a Hospital Corpsman/X-ray technician. Using his X-Ray training, he worked for Riverside Hospital for several years. In 1970, he moved to a position with the State of Ohio, Department of MR/DD. Jack worked in various capacities with MR/DD until he retired after 30 years of service in 1999. Jack retired from the Navy Active Reserve as a Chief Hospital Corpsman in 1984 after 20 years of reserve service.

Jack’s hobbies included golf, watching football, especially the Buckeyes, basketball, travel and time with family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 23, 2023, at Tidd Family Funeral Home, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-7:30 p.m., where a Prayer Service will begin at 7:30 p.m. Pastor Dale George will officiate. Private interment will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ohio Health Hospice, Prairie Township Community Center or BalletMet.
