James Clark, age 91, of Hillard, Ohio, born May 27, 1925, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016. He was a member of Second Community Church. He graduated from North High School where he starred in football, basketball and baseball. He graduated from The Ohio State University where he played football from 1945-1949 and was a member of the 1950 Rose Bowl Championship team. James was a US Marine Veteran, Army Reserve Warrant Officer and retired from DCSC after 30 years of dedicated service. Always involved with kids, he coached the Jets Optimist football team for over 30 years and was inducted into the Hilliard Optimist Hall of Fame.
He was married to the love of his life, Clara Marie Gales Clark, for 65 years who preceded him in death along with his brother, Sammy and sisters, Beatrice and Ruth. He is survived by sons, Donald (Debbie) Clark, James Douglas (Amy) Clark and John David (Dawn) Clark; grandchildren, Amanda (Seth) Brandeberry, Erica (David) Butler, Christopher Clark, Nicco Clark, Dametrius Clark and Davawnna Clark; great grandson, Maxwell Clark Brandeberry; brother, Eddie (Wanda) Clark; sister, Norma Jean (Richard) Tarrant; devoted sister-in-law, Nettie White; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Family will receive friends Tuesday, September 13, 2016, from 5-8 PM at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, OH 43026. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, 10 AM, at Second Community Church, 311 S. Highland Avenue, Columbus, OH 43223.
Entombment will immediately take place following the service at Green Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association of Central Ohio, 1379 Dublin Road, Columbus, OH, 43215
