James W. Hartman passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 3rd, at
Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio. Jim was born in Ashland, Ohio,
May 25th, 1931. He had recently celebrated his 84th birthday. Jim and
Jane Hartman celebrated 56 years of marriage on January 31st, 2015.
The youngest child of George and Rhea Hartman, Jim grew up on a
farm with 4 brothers, Ercil, Gail, Morgan and Lee. Jim graduated from
Ashland High School in 1949. Jim attended Ashland College for two
years before serving in the U.S. Navy, January, 1952 to 1956. He
attended The Ohio State University. He met and married Wenonah
Jane Morris on January 31st, 1959. They had three children, Jennifer,
Jeffrey and Jerry. He worked at the General Motors plant on Georgesville Rd. for 36
years. Jim loved his home and garden on Woerner-Temple Road in Amlin, Ohio. He
lovingly prepared his three acres and pond for many family, church, social gatherings
and years of art camp!. He is survived by his wife, Wenonah Jane Hartman, daughter
Jennifer (Raymond) Cross, son Jerry (Janelle) Hartman; grandchildren Melinda and
Emily Cross, Jillian and Joshua Hartman, surviving brother, Gail Hartman and sister-in-law Lucy
Hartman. Jim was a quiet, gentle man who made everyone laugh. We loved him
very much. A service of celebration will be held Sunday, June 14th at the Tidd Funeral
Home, 5265 Norwich St. in Hilliard, Ohio. Calling hours: 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Service begins at 2:00 p.m. A vase for cut flowers will be available. In Lieu of Flowers, please send donations to the Kobacker House.
