James Eric McDonald, age 81, of Hilliard, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2013. Member of St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church. U.S. Navy Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from Syracuse University with a BA in Business, The Ohio State University with a BS in Engineering and post graduate work at Bowling Green State University. Member of AMVETS Post #66 and retired from General Motors with 25 years of service. James enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking and genealogical research. Preceded in death by parents John and Mary McDonald. Survived by loving wife of 47 years, Diana, children Karen (Ray) McDonald-Lockwood, Gerald Alaric (Fran) McDonald, James Eric McDonald, Harvey Bennett (Melissa) McDonald, Mary (Galen) McDonald-Deak, Thomas Sean McDonald, Dorothy McDonald and John Joseph McDonald, siblings Gerald (Mary) McDonald, Ethel Graves and Pauline Holbrook, grandchildren Markus, Aaron, Alex, Kelsey, Kira, Matthew, Gabriel, Victor and Marian, great grandson Jack, numerous loving relatives and friends. A mass of Christian burial will be held 11 am Saturday at St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church, 4475 Dublin Rd., Hilliard, OH 43026; where family will receive friends 1 hour prior to mass. Please deliver all flowers to the church. Interment Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton, OH on Monday, September 2, 2013 at 10am.
