James C. McDowell

James C. McDowell, age 81, of Delaware, OH, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2018. He was born in Connellsville, PA in 1937. Jim was a graduate of Bexley High School, Class of 1956. He retired from the United States Army in 1980 after 23 years of service having served in Vietnam and received The Bronze Star medal. Jim was a long-time member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Hilliard Lodge #2236, Robert T. Secrest Post #102, AmVets, of Delaware and Reed Miller Post #3297, VFW of Delaware. He was preceded in death by his parents Garnett and Raymond McDowell and his son Michael McDowell. Jim is survived by his spouse Doris McDowell, sister Beverly Young of Lexington, KY, step-daughter Mary (Don) Leemhuis, three children, two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and step-daughter Melinda (Steve) Piroska of Delaware. Jim’s Memorial Service will be held 3:00p.m. FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2018 at the Chapel of SUNSET CEMETERY, 6959 West Broad Street, Galloway, OH 43119 with Pastor Bruce Benzing officiating. Military Honors will be rendered immediately after the service. Our family would like to thank Ohio Health Hospice who were at our home for their wonderful service.
