James Mertz, age 74, of Maineville, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017. Graduated from Eastmoor High School and a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. James retired from World Color Press, enjoyed hunting, reading, fishing, his loyal feline companion Sophia and anything Marine Corps. Preceded in death by parents John D. and Mary E. (Drum) (Mertz) Williams, sisters Joanna Jackson, Marsha (Don) Knight, Dorothy Moore and brother David Mertz. Survived by wife Ann Mertz, children Jan (Thierry) Saglier, Ron Mertz and Laurie (David) Linebaugh, grandchildren Cassandra and Brandon Saglier, Emily and Kyle Linebaugh, many loving nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends 12:30- 1:30 PM Wednesday at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH 43026; where funeral service will follow at 1:30 PM. Interment Union Cemetery. Following James’ wishes, memorial contributions may be made to The Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation, Gift Processing Administrator, 18251 Quantico Gateway Drive, Triangle, VA 22172.
