James H. Rice

Jim Rice, age 95, of Hilliard, Ohio, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025. He graduated from Hilliard High School Class of 1949. Jim retired from AT&T with 36 years of service, he was a member of the Hilliard Church of Christ, Avery Masonic Lodge #493, Scottish Rite, a longtime member of the Franklin County Fair Board, former Member of the Hilliard Kiwanis Club, and served as a Norwich Township Trustee (1976-2007).

He is preceded in death by his parents Heston and Christina (Diamond) Rice; brothers Ben Rice, and Louie Rice; sister Ruth Pelphrey; and grandson Andrew Rice.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 75 years, Lois Rice; children: James Michael (Bonnie) Rice, Cynthia Lynn (Richard) Pauley, and Jerry T. (Jodi) Rice; grandchildren: Beau Rice, Luke (Tiffany) Rice, J.T. (Stephani) Rice, Clay (Emily) Rice, Chad (Marissa Eau Claire) Rice; Jay Pauley (Linda) Lu Pauley, and Sara (Jeff) Thompson, and Nick (Andrea) Rice; great-grandchildren: Savannah Rice, Georgia Rice, Austin Rice, Ashlynn Rice, Jackson Rice, Olivia Rice, Landon Rice, Preston Rice, Hadley and Amelia Thompson, Graham, Addison, and Beckham Lu Pauley, and expecting a new great-grandchild in July 2025; and close family friend Bill Bechtold. 

The Family will receive friends for visitation on THURSDAY, January 16, 2025, from 3-7pm, at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 NORWICH STREET, HILLIARD, OH, 43026. Funeral Service will be held on FRIDAY, January 17, 2025, at 11:00am, at the Hilliard Church of Christ, 4300 Avery Road, Hilliard, Ohio 43026, with Danny Vanscoy officiating. Interment Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Hilliard, Ohio.
