James Howard Salyers, 79, passed away suddenly of heart failure at Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater, Florida, Friday, February 26th.
He leaves behind a son, Rodney, daughters, Pamela, Vicky, and Karen, five grandchildren, James, Mike, Crystal, Zach, and Drew, and three great grandchildren, Cameron, Lilly, and Olivia.
Born in Van Leer, Kentucky and raised in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Dee Dee Salyers and Alka Spradlin. He is survived by his brother Carl Salyers and sisters Opal Henson and Betty Fout.
In his early years he served his country in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic. After his honorable discharge from the service he attended Ohio State Barber College. While in college he met the love of his life of 53 years, Martha Jane Meade. They married and became best friends on April 9, 1960. Together they became quite successful in love and real estate.
Mr. Salyers loved fishing, boating, hunting, and camping. He was the happiest when sharing his hobbies with his wife and family. He was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa. He sacrificed and provided a great life for his wife and children. He loved and lived life to its fullest until the very end. He will be missed.
A service to celebrate his life will be Friday, March 11th at 1pm at TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, Ohio 43026; where family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the time of service. Followed by the burial at Wesley Chapel Cemetery, 3225 Dublin Road, Hilliard, Ohio 43026.
