James Shirley

James Shirley, age 82, Carriage Court of Hilliard, passed away November 1, 2009. U.S Navy Veteran WWII. Member Union Local 669 Sprinkler Fitters for over 40 years. Jim was an avid gardener and enjoyed vintage cars. Preceded in death by wife Rosalie (Bell) Shirley, son James M. Shirley, 4 brothers, 3 sisters and beloved rescued boxer, Baby. Survived by daughter Anita Burke of Columbus, grandson Brandon (Shauna) Burke of Murrieta, CA, daughter in law Nora Griffin-Shirley of Lubbock, TX, numerous loving relatives, friends, and special friends Mike and Nancy Martin, Craig and Judy Hutlerschiedt, Joe Rieser, Phyllis Jones, Don Stowe, Ron Stienhour and many special Union friends. Family wishes to give a special thanks to the Palliative Care staff at Mt. Carmel St. Ann’s in Westerville for their care and the staff at Carriage Court of Hilliard for their care and support over the past 2 ½ years. Family will receive friends 6-8 pm Wednesday at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH 43026. There will be a celebration of life service in May 2010, date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pilot Dogs, 625 West Town Street Columbus, OH 43215 because of their continued support of Jim’s son James in his time of need.
