Janet Korpi, age 85, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024. Janet was born on August 31, 1938 to the late Easter and Edward Steinbrenner in Cleveland, Ohio.
Janet lived a very full life and enjoyed staying busy from a young age, in high school, she was a member of the Girls Athletic Association, she played softball, basketball and field hockey, she was apart of the marching band, played 1st chair clarinet in her school's orchestra, as well as a member of the yearbook staff and National Honors Society. In that time, Janet met her High School Sweetheart, George Korpi, they were married 64 years. She went on to study at Bowling Green State University. She worked at Macy's and The Ohio State University but deeply cherished her role as a stay at home mom to be able to raise her children which eventually led to her role as Brownie Troop Leader. Later in life she enjoyed attending yoga and the many friends she made there. Janet had a green thumb and love for gardening, she had many beautiful perennial gardens but during her retirement the thing she loved most was spending time with her grandson, Ryan.
Janet is survived by her beloved husband, George Korpi, her children, Paula Snavley and Carol Billingsley (Tripp), and her brother, George Steinbrenner (Janet) and children.
Janet will receive friends for a visitation on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 from 4-6PM at the Tidd Family Funeral Home, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, OH, 43026. There will be a private burial held at a later date.
