Janice Rilling, 84, of Akron, passed away Friday, February 25, 2011. She was born January 27, 1927 in Akron , OH and lived most of her life there. She was the wife of one man, Joseph Rilling for nearly 64 years and daughter to Laverna and Asa Wade. She is survived by her husband and two children, Kristen Conrad (happily married to David) of Plain City, OH and Mark Rilling (happily married to Juanita) of Bethesda, MD. She was blessed with two grandchildren, Forrest and Aaron, along with many nieces and nephews. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, and brother. Janice was a secretary for much of her professional life at North Akron Savings Bank, and a variety of places with Kelly services, Polsky’s and the Akron Board of Education. In addition, she volunteered at Akron Children’s Hospital and taught Sunday School for many years. She poured herself into her family and their activities, including various school PTAs, Brownies, Cub Scouts, golf, travel, learning French, and making art. She exemplified the attributes of a Godly woman, especially those of faith and home. She made candles, sewed clothes and furnishings, finished woodwork, gardened flowers, herbs, and vegetables. She canned and froze produce, baked the best pies ever, and generally benefited and blessed all those who knew her. Friends may join the family to remember and celebrate Janice 11am on Saturday, March 5 at a chapel inside the entrance to Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 2569 Romig Road in Akron. A reception will take place afterward at 1pm in the Berea Room at The Chapel,135 Fir Hill in Akron. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her honor to The Chapel’s Mission Fund for the many missionaries they support.
