Jean P. Davis

Betty Emma Jean Phillips Edwards Davis (Jean Davis), age 86 of Hilliard, Ohio passed away on October 25, 2024. She was born on January 20, 1938, in Dickenson County, Virginia to the late Pridemore and Georgia Phillips.

After graduating from high school, Jean moved to Washington DC to work for the US Government in the Secretary of Labor’s office. In DC she was a social butterfly making many friends and meeting her first husband. After becoming a widow with two young children, Jean relocated to Ohio to be near family. She was married from 1968 – 1972 to Paul Davis with whom she had her second daughter. 

Jean began working for the late S. Robert Davis, a real-estate developer and financier. Jean served as Office & Accounting Manager for Davis’s many business ventures for 51 years, retiring in 2013. 

Jean was devoted to her family and loved bringing everyone together for holiday meals. Those who knew her will remember her humble kindness, spunkiness, quick wit, and mischievous laugh. Jean saw the best in everything and everyone. 

She loved to travel via cruise ship with her best friend and late sister, Cathy. Jean also enjoyed vacationing at the beach and reading – often finishing 9 or 10 novels in a week-long vacation. She attended Hilliard United Methodist Church for several years with her friends from the condo communities around Hilliard Lakes. 

She is survived by two brothers Bob and Lynn Ray Phillips; three children, son Jeff aka AJ (Susan) Edwards; daughters Lisa Edwards-Murphy and Mindy Holt; five grandchildren, Jessica (Edwards) Sullivan, Jeff Funk, Steven Funk, Alyx (Holt) Baxter and Anna Edwards; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nephews including Dan Cole.

In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by brothers, Pridemore Jr., Donald, Dan, and Terry Phillips, and sisters, Alice Pruett, Carolyn Sue Cole, and Cathy Phillips.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Tidd Funeral Home, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, Ohio 43026. A celebration of life will immediately follow at 2 p.m.
