Jeanne DeHoog

DEHOOG, JEANNE DEBORAH, 84, of Hilliard, OH, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 22, 2017. 
“Jean” was born on October 1, 1933, in Grand Rapids, MI. She moved to Hilliard, OH, in May 2017 to live near family but formerly resided in Mount Dora, FL. She was a retired school secretary from Lake County Schools in Central Florida. She also co-owned and managed a small family restaurant called the Burger Shake in the early ’70s. She was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church of Mount Dora and was especially fond of participating in Singing Saints, the choir, Wednesday night dinners and Bible study. She loved her cat Winnie, family, travel and eating out! Jean is survived by sons, William M. (Jill) DeHoog of TX, Ronald J. (Tessie) DeHoog of CA, Michael J. (Debbie) DeHoog of FL; daughter, Jeri-Lynne (David) Bouterse of OH; sister, Bernice Freeman of MI; eight grandchildren, Dylan Bouterse, Leo Guiala, Brian Heath, Brad Heath, David DeHoog, Rachel Montoya, Audrey DeHoog, and Corgan DeHoog; and one great grandchild, Tessa Guiala. Jean is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, William DeHoog, son, David L. DeHoog, parents, Berend and Jennie Roeters, brothers, Hank and Ed Roeters, and sisters, Hilda Buckley, Ann VanBeek and Tillie Vanderveen. A private family service will be held in the spring to honor and celebrate her life. In lieu of a memorial service or flowers, contributions to celebrate Jean’s life and memory may be made to her loving church family, First United Methodist Church of Mount Dora, 439 E 5th Ave, Mt Dora, FL 32757.
