Jerry Hill Sr.

Jerry Lee Hill Sr. (86), of Hilliard, OH passed away on Friday, December 2, 2022. Jerry was born in Fountain City, IN on September 6, 1936 to Denver and Opal (Berry) Hill.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years Janet K. (Coleman) Hill; his children, Gary Hill, Brenda (Bill) Deeser, Jeffrey (Julia) Hill Sr, Jerry (Carol) Hill Jr and Michelle Hill; his grandchildren, Amanda (Cory) Barge, Tim Hill, Jeffrey (Beth) Hill Jr, Zachary (Jamie) Hill, Jason (McKenzie) Hill and Marissa Mansfield; his great grandchildren, Brian Hill, Sofia Hill, Aiden Hill and Owen Barge; and his sister Teri Ober.  Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Pamela Hill, his son Terry Pope and his brother Jim Hill.

Jerry served the nation in the U.S. Army for 22 years earning the rank of Sergeant First Class.  He was an aircraft mechanic serving 2 tours in Vietnam with the 101^st Airborne Screaming Eagles.  He finished his service as a recruiter.  He also worked for the Norse Dairy Systems.  Jerry had a passion for all things automobile.  He enjoyed helping anyone whose vehicle was in need of repair, typically doing the work for free.  He loved the Ford Mustang, owning 4 classics himself, one of which was his favorite the ’65 convertible.  His life story, though, was one of caring for others.  He leaves a legacy of generosity with his time and ability.  He was also extremely wise, giving good advice to those who would listen.

The family will receive friends for a visitation and funeral for Jerry at the Tidd Funeral Home 5265 Norwich St in Hilliard on Saturday, December 10.  Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM and a service will follow at 10:30 AM.  Jerry will be laid to rest with military honors at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Norwich Township.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Parkinson’s Foundation.  Online at www.parkinson.org or Parkinson's Foundation  200 SE 1st Street  Suite 800  Miami, FL 33131 or donate to a veteran’s organization of your choice.
