Jim Dougherty, Sr.

    Jim Edgar Dougherty, Sr., age 92, of Hilliard, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at Norwich Springs Health Campus surrounded by family.  Jim was born on February 15,1930 to the late Raymond and Melina Dougherty of New Rome/ Hilliard. Jim is survived by his wife, Marjory Ann Knick Dougherty, of 72 years who celebrated their Anniversary on Saturday, December 3, 2022.  Preceded in death by brother, Jack Dougherty and sister, Jean Carter. Survived by children, Jim (Carolyn) Dougherty, and Tim (Lori) Dougherty, Pamela (Rick) Meadows, and Kari Dougherty of Hilliard.  Eight grandchildren; Robert (Julia) Meadows, Michael (Amber) Meadows, Joshua Dougherty, Ashley (Scott) Neff, Jacob Dougherty, Ryan (Olivia) Meadows, Ellen Dougherty and Patrick (Blaire)Dougherty. Three great grandchildren; Mason, Ayden, and Declan Meadows.  Numerous nieces, nephews and friends.  

      Jim graduated from Hilliards High School in 1948 and has been involved with the community for the past 70 years.  Jim served in the Army during Korean Conflict from 1952-1953.  Jim has been involved with the William Schnug Memorial Post 614, Member of the Hilliard United Methodist Church, the Hilliard Baseball Association, Northwest Franklin County Historical Society (Past President), the Hilliard Historical Society (Lifetime Member), Hilliard Davidson Touchdown Club, and the Hilliard Davidson Athletic Boosters.  Jim and Marge have been Grand Marshalls for the Hilliard’s 4th of July Parade; and inducted into the Hilliard Senior Citizen Hall of Fame in 2001.

     Jim was a passionate gardener that never met a tomato he couldn't grow. He lived his life with a sense of purpose as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He once thought he was wrong, but quickly realized he was mistaken.

    Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday December 17, 2022 at the Hilliard United Methodist Church, Hilliard, Ohio 43026. The family will receive visitation at 9:00 and Funeral at 10:00.  Private Family Interment at Alton Darby Cemetery.  Arrangements being made by Tidd Funeral Home.   In lieu of flowers please give to Hilliard United Methodist Church Pastor’s Emergency Fund or Hilliard Ohio Historical Society.
