Jo A. Carpenter

Jo A. Carpenter (JoAnn), 82, of Dublin Ohio passed away peacefully at The Avalon of New Albany on Thursday afternoon August 3rd.  She was born on February 12th, 1941 in Holmes County and was the daughter of Mellanie Barrett.

Her early life was growing up on a farm in Holmes County with her grandparents.   She graduated from Killbuck High School in 1959.  During her teen years she was Killbuck High School Homecoming Queen and Junior Fair Queen at the Holmes County Fair. She was most proud of being the 1959 Swiss Festival Queen in Sugarcreek Ohio. Her reign as the 1959 Swiss Festival Queen included a trip to Switzerland.

Most of her adult life was lived in the central Ohio area including Bucyrus, Gallion and in the Greater Columbus area.   After living in California and more than a decade in Long Island, New York she returned to Ohio and resided and worked in Dublin, Ohio. She retired from Kroger in 2021.  She loved animals of all kinds, but her dedicated focus was the kitties that were part of her daily life.

She was preceded in death by her mother Mellanie Barrett of Columbus and her grandparents Russell and Allie Wiess Mullett of Clark.    She is survived by two cousins Deanna Mullet and Sheree (Joseph) Oxley both of Columbus.   She will also be missed by her lifelong friend Debbie Dutton and husband Bill of New Albany and her friends in the Dublin community.

Calling hours and services will at the Tidd Family Funeral Home in Hillard, Ohio on August 8, 2023 from 3-5 pm; where funeral service will follow at 5 pm.
