Joan Crace-Parsons, age 90, of Hilliard, Ohio, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 3rd at her home with family by her side. She was born on November 1, 1934 in McIntyre, Pennsylvania and was the daughter of the late Samuel and Susanna Windows. Joan was a graduate of Homer City High School, Homer City, PA Class of 1952 and attended Cedarville College in 1954. She retired from the State of Ohio in 1987 where she worked for the Bureau of Employment Services. Joan later retired in 2001 after working for Bank One. She was a member of Northwest Bible Church in Hilliard where she was involved in her small group, women’s Bible study and volunteered her time helping with Vacation Bible School.
Joan is survived by her husband Gene Parsons, whom she married in 2014, son Robert Edwards (Sonja), son Kevin Crace (Jan), and son Michael Crace (Adrienne), seven grandchildren, Stephanie Raper (Gerrad); April Sherrod (Michael); Charles Edwards (Christine); Logan Crace (Jessica); Cynthia Bennett (Brian); Nadia Beaman (Jacob); Addison Crace and ten great grandchildren Benjamin, Samuel, Jacob, Lydia Raper; Maylene Crace; Sophia, Landon Bennett, Maycee Duhl; Maverick Bennett; Zoe Edwards. Brother Sam (Carol) Windows, and sister Priscilla Kalgren, Gene Parson’s children: Theresa Thomas (Larry), Jerry Parsons (Laurie), Todd Parsons, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband Robert Crace of 40 years, whom she married in 1970, sisters Ellen Lamar and Delores Shrum, brother William Windows and husband Martin Edwards whom she was married to for nine years. In keeping with Joan’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services observed. A private family graveside service will be held at Alton Cemetery, Hilliard Ohio with Pastor Cory DiCarro officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Tidd’s Funeral Home, Hilliard, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Joan’s memory to the Alzheimer's Association, or Northwest Bible Church, Hilliard. The family would like to thank Capital City Hospice for their gentle and loving care of Joan during her final days.
