Joe McAlister

Joe Lynn McAlister, age 71, of Hilliard, Ohio, passed away early Thursday, June 7, 2018, after a short battle with cancer.  Joe loved spending time with his family, including his partner Diane Leist.  Joe and Diane enjoyed traveling together and spending time at their favorite vacation spot in Marblehead, Ohio.  Joe enjoyed fishing, boating, Triumph motorcycles, and was a proud father and grandfather.  Joe retired from his position as Telecommunications Coordinator for Franklin County and spent his entire career working in telecommunications.  Joe was a veteran, having been stationed in Danang, Vietnam and Bermuda during his time in the U.S. Navy Seabees, and was a Post Commander for the VFW.  Joe graduated from Hilliard High School in 1964 and studied at Ohio University before joining the Navy.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond “Mac” and Jean McAlister and his first wife Felicia McAlister (nee Ruberry) of Somerset, Bermuda.  Joe is survived by his three sons, Justin (Suzanne), James (Lisa), and Jared (Elisa), his five grandchildren (Siena, Lily, Colin, Charles, and Cruz), brothers John and Jerry, cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.  Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2018 at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard where his Funeral Service will follow the visitation and begin at 1:00 p.m. Monday.  Burial will follow at Wesley Chapel Cemetery.  Please share a favorite memory of Joe on this website or send your condolences to his family.
